Work and Me

After so much procrastination, I finally gotten down to updating my msn. But being an IT jinx, I did it again. MSN keep logging me on and off. Jared is complaining and I could do nothing but totally log myself off for the night. Maybe MSN is just trying to get use to my computer, just like me getting used to work. *Shudder*
Well, my one month classroom training ended a week ago with a little outdoor adventure at the OBS. Ridiculous but fun. We had to jump off the ferry on the very first day and swim to Pulau Ubin. After getting ourselves wet and cold, we set off to make ourselves even more wet and miserable, we set off for kayaking round the island for the day.

My very first time kayaking. Once again, when I try something outdoors for the first time, something is bound to happen. When I went to Ophir, I came back with a scarred butt and a tortured soul. When I backpacked Europe, I came back with bubblewrapped feet. This time round, I suffered a mild abrasion from barnacles during our capsize drill and bad rashes ( caused a lot of embarrassment). But it as worth it, I really enjoyed myself. We got lost in the swamps, crashed into branches ( unfortunately, and I screamed each time we buang) and fought with many spiders.

Do you remember the show swamp thing? I also associated the swamps with scary creatures like mudskippers, crocodiles, snakes, monsters and mosquitoes. But there is more to that. Have you seen flowers in the swamp? I saw the most beautiful flowers floating serenely beside my kayak and it made me smile even though my hands are aching and sore. I have never imagine the swarm to be so beautiful.

After a full day of kayaking, we camped and cooked and rested. At 1 am, they announced that we are to pack everything and set off within 30 minutes. Hahaha....I dunno if I slept at all that night, but I sure had fun kayaking in the dark dark waters. The sea was calm and charming, not at all scary and mysterious. Some fish decided to greet us by jumping on board one of our kayaks, hitting itself hard and bouncing back into the waters. It was funny and the night passed very quickly. We arrived at campsite 2 to build our own raft which turn out to be disastrous. The barrels flipped and people start falling offboard. We went ahead rowing our pathetic raft and miraculously manage to pull it off. I must give credit to myself for that!!! I was the only girl rowing that raft with the big strong boys! Not because I was strong, just because I happen to be the heavier one sitting outside so I had to row. Hah..

Another challenge at OBS was the climbing. We had to climb up the structure that was about 5 storeys high. I had no guts to challenge myself at one of the impossible-to-conquer-unless-I- can-fly structures so I opted for the safer one. But it was so physically challenging!!! My arms couldnt take it when I was only 25 % up. My partner had a fear of heights but was already way ahead of me. ( He had to la, guy cannot lose to girl ma) He was kind enough to help me up and we finally made it up. Was a feat but nothing compared to my conquest of Ophir!!!!

And now, we are all at different parts of the company. Still meet up for lunch and drinks but good times like that will end very soon. I am now doing rotation at Raffles Place and next week I will posted to Toa Payoh and the following week back at Raffles Place. Will not get to meet them as often but at the same time will get to meet lots of new people and hopefully friends. Am excited, at the same time feeling tired. Shall sleep early tonight. So goodnight everyone!
